Attica Tribune - Dr. Holly, of this city, was called to the home of Don Hickman, near Newtown Thursday morning at 4 o'clock to treat Mary, 9-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hickman. He found that she had ptomaine poisoning, but was so far gone remedies would have no effect. She died an hour later. A son was also ill from the same disease, but he is improving and will recover. The party had eaten chicken which had been cooked for a couple of days and also partook of watermelon that had been cut and exposed for some time. Either of these might have caused the trouble. Funeral services were held at the home and interment was in Riverside cemetery. - kbz
